Super Smash Bros was an amazing addition to the Nintendo 64 lineup. The game was first seen in 1999 and allowed gamers to play as a variety of their favorite Nintendo characters. The game was widely successful and was one of the defining moments for the console. Now, 15 years later, Nintendo has just released Super Smash Bros for 3DS.
If you want to get Super Smash Bros for PC, you can play the original right at home.
Setting Up Your PC
First things first, you will need an emulator that will be able to run N64 games. This is, thankfully, very easy to find. The following sites offer N64 emulators, so just take your pick:
Just remember to check your download files for any viruses. While we have made every attempt to list trustworthy resources, it is best to always run your own virus and malware scan on the file.
Since N64 is older, you should not run into any system requirement issues during installation. Once installed, it is time to find the ROM and begin playing.
Download Super Smash Bros for PC
You will need to download the actual ROM, or game, from a trusted resource. This is the file with all of the game’s functionality that can be loaded into the emulator. The ROM can be downloaded from a variety of sources, including:

Run the Emulator
Once downloaded, you will want to open up your emulator and load the ROM. This is normally done through a basic File -> Open operation. Now, navigate to your ROM and load it into the emulator. Since Smash Bros was a widely popular game, it should have no issues loading and playing on any emulator that has decent developer support.
You will now be free to run and play the game as you see fit.
Enhancing Your Experience
You will quickly notice that Super Smash Bros for PC is not as easy to play on your computer as it was on the console. This is mainly due to the lack of a controller. While you can always customize your inputs and select your own controller configuration, it is often better to spend a few dollars on a USB controller.
You will be able to find relatively cheap controllers that can be hooked up to your PC and custom mapped to your emulator. This is highly recommend for anyone that wants to truly enjoy Smash Bros.
If you want to play any other installments of Super Smash Bros, you can easily follow the same steps above for other console emulators. The older games are much more readily available, and you will be able to find free downloads of most games online. Newer consoles, however, often do not have emulators or games available.
Unfortunately, you will not be able to play the latest 3DS version of Super Smash Bros on your PC.
